'Strategic Planning' and 'Strategy' seem sometimes to be over-used buzz words. However, they are vitally important and should be practices, not just theories. Put simply, you would never get into your car to make a journey without deciding where to go or how to get there - so why do it for your business?
De-mystifying further, there are I believe generally only two types of strategic plan:
1. I want the company to achieve £x million turnover/profit - to have x% yearly growth and profitability - to be No.1 in our sector/industry
- What do we need to achieve this ?
Or
2. Given this amount of investment and resource..... where can we get to - what is the most we can achieve?
So, where do you want your business to be next year - in 2/3/5 years time?
Do you have a Plan? Is it achievable? Is it measurable? Do you need additional resources?
Does everyone know about it and agree with it?
Is it periodically reviewed (i.e. more than once per year) ?
Are you making progress towards it every day?
Is Strategy Planning something you do once a year for budget purposes and then get back to 'day to day' business?
Maybe you just need more time and expertise?
I have extensive experience in creating and implementing strategic plans which bring real growth and profitability. Contact me to arrange an initial meeting, in confidence and entirely without obligation.
